“The product will also boast integration and compatibility with other types of documents, so that clients can drag Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files onto the Web site, and they will be translated and formatted automatically.” wow.

huphtur, I don’t know what your experience with ColdFusion has been, but it’s a really solid technology for creating Web Applications. Having said that, I don’t believe that this new product is a CMS per se. In order for Think Secret to have gotten this information, someone at Devcon had to break their NDA. As much as I would like to talk in more detail, I don’t want to break mine. It’s supposed to be released on November 11th, so I guess we’ll find out the rest of the details then.

Thanks, Robert... I appreciate it. (I agree that the unstated subtext that it’s unnatural to not announce something until it’s announced, particularly with something new where some people are approached or advised ahead of time, but that’s life in the modern world for ya.... ;-) Regards, John Dowdell Macromedia Support

I really don’t think you can call ColdFusion a solid technology... heck, you can barely call ASP a solid technology (.Net or not). But this isn’t about a specific technology (though I hope Macromedia doesn’t “limit” the product to development with just ColdFusion, that would be a waste)... it is about the integration of technologies. If Macromedia can pull it off and produce 100% valid markup (hey, we have all seen the crap that most DOC exporters produce) and perhaps even acessible, then we are on to something here.

Simon Willison noticed a CMS (or something?) announcement trend and logged three of them. The other two noted are bricolage and livestoryboard.

Thanks Nick! I’ve moved the link up into it’s own post. Anyone who trys it out should let us know what you think by commenting to the new post (nov 11th).
